The latest crowd control weapon devised by scientists is to... microwave
mass groups of people, causing their skin to heat to painful temperatures.
They (yes, it's those "them" again) say that it's necessary to be
under the beam for 250 seconds before damage results. Of course this seems
to assume that none of the beams are going to hit anyones eyes.

Monkey Clones!

Embryos from Rhesus monkeys have been cloned, at the Oregon Regional
Primate Research Center. While this work somewhat applies to human cloning
(monkeys and humans both being primates), the principal interest in the
Center is to create a race of identical monkeys, suitable for laboratory
experiments. A good lab monkey can sell for $50,000 -- if you can get one.

Mexican star impregnates self with smuggled semen

pop star, took an increasingly bizarre turn last week when a police
investigation concluded she had become pregnant in a Brazilian prison using a
syringe of semen smuggled into her cell."

Neutralizing Paki Nukes

Presence of nukes in Pakistan are a sticky question and nobody really wants
to think about what happens if the government there should fall to the
fundamentalists. "Biden was asked about an article in The New York Times on
the need to render Pakistani nuclear weapons ineffective if the Musharraf
regime falls. The Democrat senator replied: Those discussions are underway
with the Democratic and Republican members of Congress and the president on
setting those priorities."
