Pancake Perfection
The Scotsman | Submitted by: LudditeAndroid
"The pancake, weighing 50g, should be flipped into the air at a speed of 10
miles per hour, ensuring that it will take less than 0.5 of a second to reach
the top of its trajectory. At this point the pancake should have rotated 90
degrees at a rate of 0.55 revs per second. It then takes a further 0.45
seconds to make it back down to the pan, rotating a further 90 degrees on the
way, making a total airtime of just nine-tenths of a second."

seize the estate of Robert E. Lee, which is obviously something that
is unlikely to be in private hands. So, how do you fence these things?

Publishing police officer phone numbers
Seattle Times | Submitted by: Soylent
"A Web site that gives personal information on hundreds of police officers
and is already the subject of a lawsuit pitting the First Amendment against
personal privacy now is the target of legislation aimed at shutting it down.
The bill, which passed out of the state Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday,
would allow a judge to shut down any source that sells, lists or distributes
the home phone numbers, home addresses, birthdates or Social Security numbers
of police officers or court employees and shows 'an intent to harm or
intimidate.'"
