"Pastor Elizaphan Ntakirutimana, 78, the former head of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in western Rwanda, was sentenced to 10 years in prison for aiding and abetting genocide. Gerard Ntakirutimana, 45, a doctor at the church's hospital, was given a 25-year sentence for the same charges and for killing two people."

Herd of women to join suit over uterus branding

A new development in previous Rotten story: "Nine women are asking to join a lawsuit against a surgeon accused of branding the initials of his alma mater, the University of Kentucky, onto a patient's uterus during a hysterectomy. The women, ncluding a former nurse of Dr. James M. Guiler, say they discovered they had been similarly branded after watching videotapes Guiler had provided of their procedures." The Rotten Staff was undecided whether to refer to the women as a herd or a gaggle, so a coin was flipped.

"As for the proposed bombing of the Brookings Institution, Dean said Colson floated the idea as a way to retrieve certain documents Nixon wanted that were housed in the research center not far from the White House. Colson suggested that while firefighters were trying to douse the damage caused by a bomb, White House operatives could rush in and seize the papers."

They all died before his senior year: one by accident, one by heart failure and four by suicide. Jared Stait had lost more friends by college than most people lose in a lifetime. The suicides, especially, stuck with him. Three months ago, Stait filmed a spot for a suicide prevention group that would be distributed on college campuses. Suicide, the 20-year-old told friends, is not the answer. Early Sunday something came undone. Stait came home from a Corvallis party, e-mailed his girlfriend and hanged himself.

The girls started toward the vehicle after seeing what appeared to be an Amish girl sitting in the passenger seat... "A 25 year old Northfield woman filed a federal sexual harassment lawsuit Tuesday against Hooters in Chicago, alleging that top management did little to prevent male employees from viewing the women's changing area through peepholes in the wall... Joanna Cieselski, a server at the restaurant at 8225 E. Higgins, noticed two peepholes in the dressing room in May 2001 where the female staff changed into tight-fitting T-shirts and shorts."

Ebola kills 64 in Congo

"The World Health Organization confirmed that an outbreak of Ebola in the Congo Republic has killed 64 people. Blood samples drawn from patients in the region tested positive for ebola virus, said Josef Mboussa of the country's Health Ministry. U.N. health officials confirmed Wednesday that the disease was the ebola virus and warned that the highly lethal hemorrhagic fever could still be spreading."
