Five people reportedly sacrificed
keralanext.com | Submitted by: Alex Crowley
"Five people, including four children, were killed in a Gujarat village and their body parts strewn on the road. Police said Friday that the killings in Bawla village of Ahmedabad district, 70 km from here, could be an instance of human sacrifice from the way that the bodies had been mutilated... Police officials said Bawla village is dominated by nomadic tribes, known for black magic and occult practices. 'For black magic and occult practices, the ritual of human sacrifice is supposed to be required. We strongly suspect that black magic could have been one of the main reasons behind these killings,' an investigating official said."

Seminary begins screening wannabe priests for HIV
Canada.com | Submitted by: bush_fucker
"The Grand Séminaire de Montréal is adding a new requirement for men who want to study to become priests - an HIV test. Not that the Catholic Church feels gay sex is the only way a person can get the AIDS virus. Still, a positive test result will sound an alarm bell, said the seminary's rector, Rev. Marcel Demers... Demers said the church believes homosexuals have a harder time than heterosexuals to remain chaste... 'Let's be realistic. You can't change your sexual habits on a dime,' [the Reverend Thomas Lynch] said. If a person is gay and has been sexually active with other men, and then finds himself living in a seminary among 20, 40 or 100 other men, 'the odds are pretty high he's going to be attracted to somebody.'" [Well, clergymen certainly are kinda hot...]

'It appears that a clear, gel-like substance had been smeared on the toilet seats, press-down buttons and on the building's walls.' ... Two were treated and released, but the third was admitted to Christchurch Hospital and would need plastic surgery after receiving serious second and third degree burns."

Bush began planning Iraq invasion well before 9-11
CBS News | Submitted by: A. P. Palled
"The Bush Administration began making plans for an invasion of Iraq, including the use of American troops, within days of President Bush's inauguration in January of 2001 - not eight months later after the 9/11 attacks, as has been previously reported. That's what former Treasury Secretary Paul O'Neill says... 'From the very beginning, there was a conviction that Saddam Hussein was a bad person and that he needed to go.'" [Well duh. Governor Bush told a BBC correspondent in November 1999 that it was "time to finish the task" in Iraq.]

Old chemical weapons dicovered in Iraq
CNN | Submitted by: Crazy Quagga
"Danish troops have found suspicious mortar shells in southern Iraq that officials believe contain blister agents... The shells are at least 10 years old, and a U.S. Army official said he suspects the ordnance was surplus from the Iran-Iraq war in the mid-1980s... Both the U.S. and British governments cited the threat of illicit weapons of mass destruction as a main reason for launching the Iraq war. However, no such weapons have been found so far. The U.S. pulled 400 weapons-disposal experts from Iraq this month."

Giant marijuana crop seized in former brewery
Globe and Mail | Submitted by: KiDeR Jones

Limp-dicked man pushed too far
Canoe | Submitted by: egoman!!!
"Being kicked in the privates and berated as a homosexual was enough to make Marcel Ross Cote snap and brutally stomp to death a woman he was trying to have sex with... [Vivian Paddy] took off some of her clothes so they could have sex, but Cote couldn't get an erection due to his mixing alcohol with prescription drugs he was taking for depression. 'Paddy, who is known to be violent when consuming alcohol, began to get frustrated and angry with Cote's inability to achieve an erection,' said Crown prosecutor Kimberley Goddard. 'She kicked him forcefully in the groin and called him a "homo."'" [Which is when he proceeded to beat her to death.]

Herpes: God's halfhearted cure for lesbianism
Advocate | Submitted by: Low Blow
"Herpes infections are common among lesbians, with nearly half of the lesbians studied testing positive for herpes simplex virus-1, which causes cold sores, and about 8% infected with the type-2 strain that causes genital infections, Reuters Health reports. The study, conducted by researchers at Seattle's Harborview Medical Center, is the first to specifically examine herpes prevalence among lesbians and bisexual women, whom many doctors previously believed were at low risk for the infections."

People livid over restaurant name, 55 years later
Philadelphia Inquirer | Submitted by: Dick Armey
"To Susannah Park and most any Asian-American, the word 'chink' is as hurtful as the n-word is to African-Americans. So when Park, of West Philadelphia, found out about Chink's Steaks, in Wissinoming, she was horrified. Park called the restaurant owner and has since begun a campaign to change the shop's name... 'Having a restaurant with that name... is telling the world that "chink" is an appropriate term and that its not a racial slur,' Park said... Opened in 1949 by the late Samuel 'Chink' Sherman, the steak shop has become a neighborhood legend... Sherman got the nickname when he was 6, said widow Mildred Sherman. 'He had slanty eyes... and the kids started calling him "chink,"' Mildred Sherman said. Many people didn't learn of his real name until they attended his funeral in 1997. Sherman said the nickname is etched on her husband's gravestone."

North Koreans compelled to quit smoking
BBC | Submitted by: Samuel Vimes
"North Korea has launched a nationwide anti-smoking campaign after its leader Kim Jong-il reportedly quit the habit and called on his people to follow suit. Reports in the South Korean media said Kim recently singled out smokers as one of the 'three main fools of the 21st century,' along with those who are ignorant about computers and music... although there are no accurate statistics, an estimated 40% of the North's 22 million people smoke cigarettes, one of the highest rates in the world."
