Cheney caught lying about Halliburton
Time | Submitted by: optional
"Vice President Dick Cheney was a guest on NBC's Meet the Press last September when host Tim Russert brought up Halliburton. Citing the company's role in rebuilding Iraq as well as Cheney's prior service as Halliburton's CEO, Russert asked, 'Were you involved in any way in the awarding of those contracts?' Cheney's reply: 'Of course not, Tim ... And as Vice President, I have absolutely no influence of, involvement of, knowledge of in any way, shape or form of contracts led by the [Army] Corps of Engineers or anybody else in the Federal Government.' ... TIME has obtained an internal Pentagon e-mail sent by an Army Corps of Engineers official... Dated March 5, 2003, the e-mail says 'action' on a multibillion-dollar Halliburton contract was 'coordinated' with Cheney's office... The e-mail says [Douglas Feith] approved arrangements for the contract 'contingent on informing WH [White House] tomorrow. We anticipate no issues since action has been coordinated w VP's [Vice President's] office.' Three days later, the Army Corps of Engineers gave Halliburton the contract, without seeking other bids."

RPG discovery alarms neighbors
ABC TV affiliates | Submitted by: Democracy is Dead
"Police want to know why neighborhood kids have been playing with an anti-tank grenade launcher in the 25-hundred block of North 18th Street in North Philadelphia... The so-called bazooka was the talk of the 2500 block of North 18th Street today, but no one is sure where the rocket launcher came from... Police say this anti-tank weapon had been rendered inoperable. It was probably purchased at a gun show to be kept as a collectible but they are not amused by its presence on a public street in a densely populated neighborhood."

Bush scores awesome Saddam trophy
Time | Submitted by: Doctor Benway
"When Saddam Hussein was rousted from his spider hole in Dawr, a town near Tikrit, by U.S. soldiers last December, Iraq's fallen dictator was clutching a pistol... Sources say that the military had the pistol mounted after the soldiers seized it from Saddam and that it was then presented to the President privately by some of the troops who played a key role in ferreting out the old tyrant. Though it was widely reported at the time that the pistol was loaded when they grabbed Saddam, Bush has told visitors that the gun was empty - and that it is still empty and safe to touch. 'He really liked showing it off,' says a recent visitor to the White House who has seen the gun. 'He was really proud of it.'"
