Feds ask judge to erase terror convictions
Detroit News | Submitted by: Reid Fleming
"The Justice Department asked a federal judge Tuesday to throw out the convictions of three men charged with supporting terrorism and document fraud. The filing raises serious questions about the conduct of FBI agents and the former lead government prosecutor, Richard Convertino, who is now the subject of a criminal investigation for his conduct during the trial... The stunning decision to toss the terrorism charges is the latest in a string of embarrassments for the Justice Department and Bush administration, which had touted the first post-September 11 terror convictions as an important victory in the war on terrorism. In March, The Detroit News disclosed that prosecutors had repeatedly ignored rules in tended to ensure a fair trial and withheld numerous documents from defense lawyers... The Justice Department report suggests that an FBI interview with one of the defendants may have been altered and says a CIA analyst and foreign intelligence services disputed key parts of the evidence before trial."

Another black woman railroaded by lying Italians
Star Beacon | Submitted by: Reid Fleming
"Former Ashtabula Township Clerk Gloria Blackwell pleaded guilty on two charges of dereliction of duty and one charge of criminal mischief Monday, blaming the high Italian population in the area for her plight... 'I'm here in a courtroom filled with Italians, and you're an Italian,' Blackwell said to [Judge Albert Camplese]... Blackwell said Ashtabula Township is a 'dishonest group of people.' She added, 'This is an Italian community - they stick together... In my heart I know I will not win - I have too many people against me, including the judge.' ... Blackwell turned to the observers in the courtroom and said, 'I may be going down, but I will have you know I'm a child of Jesus.' Blackwell pointed to the trustees sitting in the courtroom and told them that their behavior throughout the trial had been inappropriate. 'They (trustees) sit in the peanut gallery and snicker at me,' Blackwell said. 'You mark my word, one by one they will pay for the things they've done to me.'" [Just as Jesus said: "Revenge is a dish best served cold."]

Keyes disses Mary Cheney for dykitude
Advocate | Submitted by: Reid Fleming
"Republican Alan Keyes, who is running against Democrat Barack Obama for a U.S. Senate seat from Illinois, has labeled homosexuality 'selfish hedonism' and said Vice President Dick Cheney's lesbian daughter, Mary, is a sinner. The former talk-show host, who has made two unsuccessful runs for the White House, made the comments Monday night in an interview with Sirius OutQ, a satellite radio station that provides programming aimed at gays and lesbians. After saying homosexuality is 'selfish hedonism,' Keyes was asked if that makes Mary Cheney 'a selfish hedonist.' 'Of course she is,' Keyes replied. 'That goes by definition.'"

Veterans deny ever signing SBVFT letter
Billings Gazette | Submitted by: Reid Fleming
"When [Swift boat veteran Bob Anderson] found out last week that his name was one of about 300 signed on a letter questioning Kerry's service, he was 'flabbergasted.' 'It's kind of like stealing my identity,' said Anderson, who spent a year on a swift boat as an engine man and gunner... [Bob Wedge], 60, of Mesquite, Nev., said his name, too, was on the list - and he's mad. 'This is the fourth or fifth time someone has called me or e-mailed me in regard to signing this damn letter,' he wrote in an e-mail to Anderson. 'I don't agree with it and want no part of it and especially don't want my name on it.' Both men have tried to contact the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth to have their names removed from the list. Neither have had any success... [Tom Pyle] had contacted a dozen men whose names showed up on the list. Of the dozen, three said they had not given permission, Anderson said. 'That leads me to believe that as many as 25% of the names are fictitious supporters of that group.'"
