If he worked a 12-hour day, that gave him less than one minute for each exam... [National Guard Captain Kelly Parrson] told Time there were times when he and other non-physicians carried out amputations and other procedures on inmates that should have been performed by surgeons. 'I took off an ankle and a lower leg,' he recalls. 'There was no one else, and if it was death or amputation, you just had to do it.' 'When somebody died, we just took out their chest tube and inserted it into another, living person,' he said. [Edward Mincey], 28, was arrested Jan. 18 on state charges of aggravated battery and official misconduct after an incident the investigated by the sheriff's office integrity unit. He's accused of kicking Ronnie Forest, 35, in the head Jan. 7 after Forest became belligerent in a jail cell. According to police, Mincey had told investigators that Forest lunged at him, which they learned was not true... Investigators found the notes and letters when they searched 57-year-old George Budd's Kokomo apartment following his arrest on child pornography charges, said Kokomo police Lt. Donald Whitehead... The search turned up pornographic photos sent through the U.S. mail and materials related to the stalking charge, authorities said. The materials included maps of the mail carrier's route, binoculars and rope, according to documents filed in federal court. In the video, shot by a camera on the dashboard of the patrol car and released Friday, a police sergeant questioning [Justice Alice Robie Resnick] in the front seat tells her he can smell alcohol on her breath. Resnick assures the officer that she can drive safely... Resnick also repeatedly asks to be let go, saying, 'My God, you know I decide all these cases in your favor. And my golly, look what you're doing to me.' Resnick's blood-alcohol content registered 0.22%, more than twice the legal limit." Joseph Conte, a music teacher at E.W.F. Strirrup Elementary, was arrested Thursday night and charged with four counts of lewd and lascivious conduct. Two teenage girls told police that Conte approached them in an area south of Kendall and offered them $50 to perform a sexual favor... According to police records, 55-year-old Conte was arrested in 1987 on similar charges involving lewd and lascivious conduct, but the case against him was dismissed." Read article... The boy had been visiting his 31-year-old uncle in rural Pierce County, said sheriff's spokesman Ed Troyer. The uncle was using a bulldozer to grade a driveway in front of a private hangar near the Kapowsin Air Field and was giving the boy a ride. He sent the boy into a nearby house at about 5:30 p.m. for a cup of hot chocolate and returned to grading.
