Lottery winner allegedly murders girlfriend
Malaysia Star | Submitted by: Reid Fleming
"They came from the same village in Perak and fell deeply in love despite the gap of 17 years between them. But the relationship apparently turned sour when money came into the picture. The two had allegedly fought over an undisclosed amount of lottery prize money, won by the man recently. Yesterday, the 23-year-old woman was found murdered with nine stab wounds – five on her face and the others on her head and shoulder – in a hotel room... Liew Pai Sea, from Chemor, was found naked and sprawled on the bathroom floor at 7am by the police. Her hands and legs were tied with torn pieces of clothing. Her lover, a 40-year-old unemployed, was arrested on the spot when a police team, acting on a distress call, broke into the room. 'We recovered in the room some items used for taking syabu and believe the suspect was high on drugs.' ... Sources said the couple had been fighting over money after the man was believed to have won tens of thousands of ringgit from a lottery game."

Alleged kidkiller sane enough for trial
KPRC-TV 2 Houston | Submitted by: Kaiser Wilhelm
"A Beaumont judge set a May trial date for a man accused of killing a 6-year-old boy whose body was found in an oven last April... Physicians at a state hospital determined last October that [Kenneth Pierott], 28, was competent to stand trial... He is accused of killing Tre-Devin Odoms, whose body was found in an oven at his mother's house. Pierott had been dating the boy's mother. Police said the oven's pilot light was not lit so there was no heat source to the oven, which was turned to 600 degrees. According to a court document, Pierott believed the child was 'draining the life' from his 2-year-old son, Jacory, and 'he needed to kill Trey so that Jacory could breathe.' An autopsy report indicated the boy died from asphyxia due to smothering."

Crematorium allegedly subpar
WHDH-TV 7 Boston | Submitted by: optional
"The crematorium where a woman who died a week or more earlier was found decomposing apparently used a Dumpster to dispose of pacemakers, replacement hips and other metallic implants, a prosecutor said Thursday. In addition to the body of the unidentified woman, investigators searching the Bayview Crematorium found the remains 'of more than one person' in a single oven after it cooled down Wednesday, Rockingham County Jim Reams said at a news conference... He said foul play is not suspected in the death of the woman, who apparently was in her 50s. Her body was found in a broken refrigeration unit."

Mystery perv haunts Vancouver
Seattle Post-Intelligencer | Submitted by: Isaac Fleming
"His disturbing, graphic calling cards litter the city, but after 13 years, the man Vancouver police call 'the Cambie pornographer' continues to elude their grasp. Hundreds of the man's typed or crudely handwritten letters, describing sexually explicit encounters with young children, have been found on city streets since 1992. The descriptions are so detailed that police worry the man may be writing about real incidents, Detective Noreen Waters said... Letters were sometimes left outside toy stores and children's clothing outlets. 'He often asks for little girls as partners, but the incidents involve both boys and girls, usually from 3 to 8 years of age.'"

Blowjob byproduct eventually sparks litigation
Chicago Sun-Times | Submitted by: shell'em
"A woman accused of using her lover's sperm to impregnate herself without his knowledge can be held liable for the unwitting father's emotional pain, the Illinois Appellate Court has ruled. In the ruling released Thursday, a three-judge panel reinstated part of a lawsuit against Sharon Irons, a doctor from Olympia Fields... Irons was sued by her former lover, Chicago family physician Richard Phillips, who accused her of a 'calculated, profound personal betrayal' of him after a brief affair they had six years ago. Phillips alleges that he and Irons, who practices internal medicine, never had intercourse during their four-month affair, although they did have oral sex three times. His suit contends that Irons, without his knowledge, kept some of his semen and used it to impregnate herself... Nearly two years later, Irons slapped Phillips with a paternity suit. DNA tests showed Phillips was indeed the father, court papers state."

NYPD not big dog lovers, apparently
New York Daily News | Submitted by: optional
"A Brooklyn man was pepper-sprayed when he brought his dying dog to his local police precinct, it was revealed yesterday... [Jaime Johnson] said he ran to the 88th Precinct stationhouse Saturday morning after his family's Shih Tzu puppy, Suki, was hit by a car... 'Within three minutes of [getting] there, I was blinded for the rest of the day,' said Johnson, who denied he was drunk. Johnson said he was briefly put into a cell and then brought out and cuffed to a sink so he could wash his face. He was brought to Woodhull Hospital for what sources said was a psychological evaluation. While Johnson was at Woodhull, police sources said, the Sanitation Department was called to take the dog's body away, which is standard procedure, according to police."
