When he died, Shawcross, 63, was serving a sentence of 250 years to life -- one of the state's longest sentences -- at the Sullivan Correctional Facility in Sullivan County. Between 1988 and 1990 Shawcross murdered 11 Rochester-area women, most of whom were prostitutes."

The advanced, digital meters allow San Francisco's PG&E to turn service off or on without sending a crew to a customer's home. As a result, PG&E expects to shut off 85 percent of the customers eligible for disconnection in 2011, according to the company.
