Rambunctious Pupils Break Psycho Teacher
London Telegraph | Submitted by: NormanPubes
"The was wandering about the classroom with a yardstick, sword fighting with another pupil, that sort of high jinx... The boy then took out a metal bunsen burner stand and was waving it about... Mr Harvey chased him around the classroom and it came to a point when the boy told him to fuck off... That seems to have lit the blue touch paper because Mr Harvey grabbed him by his collar and dragged him into a prep room, where he bludgeoned the boy with a 3kg dumbbell, shouting die, die, die."

Children Frogmarched Off Party Bus
Johnson City Press | Submitted by: anonymous
"The bus had no running water, no bathroom and sparse living arrangements. The yard was strewn with trash and it appeared the children were using the yard as a toilet... The children had not bathed in weeks, could not read or write, did not know their own ages and had never attended school of any kind. Gregg said the children all thought they were one year old. "They didn't even have any comprehension of time and dates or anything like that."

Google Fined Over Brazillian Anon Grief
Search Engine Land | Submitted by: cyran0
"In Brazil, a fine of just over $9,000 has been imposed on Google by a civil court... The company was held to have defamed a priest by allowing an anonymous Internet user's post on Orkut, which called the priest a "pedophile"... Suits like this would not, generally speaking, succeed in the US. The emerging question is: what sort of burden is going to be placed on Google and other online publishers outside the US to police content in quasi real time vs. responding when someone identifies a violation and requests content removal?"

He then drove about 30 miles west of town and pushed the body off one of the Triple Bridges, near Fish Creek... A resident of Copper Run called 911 after she noticed the bloody drag trail and saw Richard scrubbing the stairway outside his apartment."

Anzacs Celebrated With Vehicular Malfunction
Australian Broadcasting | Submitted by: JJ
"An old military truck has ploughed into a group of marchers at Melbourne's Anzac Day parade after a suspected mechanical fault... Witness say the scene was horrific, with four or five people dragged underneath the vehicle." Anzac Day commemorates the amphibious invasion on Gallipoli, Turkey, during WWI: "Four days of unrelenting slaughter and bloodshed -- the lives of more than 4,000 Turks and 2,200 ANZACS lost -- in an area the size of two tennis courts, with enemy frontlines separated by only a couple of cricket pitches."

New York Times | Submitted by: athenstexman phd. (pimpin' ho's degree)
"Craigslist, one of the most popular Web sites in the United States, is on track to increase its revenue 22 percent this year, largely from its controversial sex advertisements... The ads, many of which blatantly advertise prostitution, are expected to bring $36M this year... Craigslist, based in San Francisco, had seemed to put the conflict over its sex ads to rest. Attorneys general in 40 states investigated the company for facilitating criminal activity, after a wave of publicity about prostitution and violent crimes linked to the site."

Head-Sprouting Wormgenes Discovered
The Register | Submitted by: ditchley
"Planaria (flatworms) continue to blossom as a model system for understanding all aspects of regeneration... When amputated along any plane, Planaria are capable of regenerating all missing tissue and rescaling all structures to the new size of the animal... "The discovery of "smed-prep" unlocks the mechanisms by which the hard-to-kill Planarians grow new muscle, gut and brain cells from stem-cells... Even more importantly, it seems that the information contained in smed-prep also makes the new cells appear in the right place and organise themselves into working structures -- as opposed to nonfunctional blobs of protoplasm."

SCOTUS To Hear Game Rating Case
Kotaku | Submitted by: K
"The California fight began in late 2005 when the Governor signed into law regulations that would fine retailers of up to $1000 against people who sell intensely violent games to minors -- though no such laws exist pertaining to the sale of violent movies or DVDs... Courts throughout the country have ruled consistently that content-based regulation of computer and video games is unconstitutional, but the Supreme Court has never heard a case dealing with violent video games."

Man-Eating Sofas From Hell
BBC | Submitted by: SeeSider
"A number of High Street chains has been ordered to pay up to 20M in compensation to 2,000 people who received chemical burns from sofas... Up to 100,000 sofas were sold with "highly sensitising" fungicidal chemical dimethyl fumarate (DMF) inside. The substance was designed to stop the furniture, manufactured in China, going mouldy in storage. When the sofas went into people's homes the solid sachets turned into gas that burned through clothes and on to skin."
